  1. What is the difference between this site and Britannica’s E-STAX™ site?
    • The shop.eb.com site allows you to:
      • Browse the entire library of e-books, online resources, and special collections available from Britannica Digital Learning;
      • View pricing information;
      • Put the titles you want to buy in your shopping cart or add them to your wish list for later action; and
      • Place your order using a purchase order or credit card—all while you are on the site.
    • Britannica E-STAX is one Web platform from which you can access the e-books you have purchased. Britannica's e-books are also available on many popular e-books platforms and can likely be purchased directly from the provider of the e-book platform your school or library uses.
    • E-STAX includes the following features:
      • Easy access from any computer with an Internet connection or from iPad and Android tablets
      • Reader apps for PC/Mac, iPad, and Android tablets to support offline reading
      • Unlimited simultaneous use
      • User-friendly, intuitive interfaces and easy navigation
      • Cross-searching across all the Britannica e-books that your institution has purchased
      • Downloadable MARC records (available for a fee)
      • Printing of 100% of text and images on a page-by-page basis

  2. What products are available from Britannica on this site?
    • E-books: Britannica offers more than 1,000 full-color and black-and-white nonfiction e-books for grades PreK-12 across all curricular subject areas, including English/Language Arts, Math, Science, Social Studies, History, and Science. Britannica’s e-books are available from many other e-book platform providers or for one-time purchase with no recurring subscription or platform fees when accessed on Britannica’s E-STAX platform. 
    • Online Resources: These popular products are available through annual subscription and support curriculum standards across the subject areas in the classroom, the library, and at home. These products can be purchased on shop.eb.com for a minimum order per building which is equivalent to a specific number of users at that site. If your number of users is greater than that covered by the minimum order amount, call 1-800-621-3900 or send an email to contact@eb.com for information, 
    • Curriculum Collections: These e-book “bundles” have been pre-assembled by Britannica’s curriculum specialists to support specific instructional programs or uses.

Using shop.eb.com

  1. How can I find something specific on the site; e.g., at a specific interest level or on a particular subject?
    Use the filtering menu on the left side of your screen to select one or more criteria you would like to use for your search. The e-books and other products that meet these criteria will appear in alphabetical order.
  2. What is an e-book “series”? A “curriculum collection”?
    An e-book “series” is a set of e-books that has been published at the same time on the same or related topic. The books in a series also typically share a similar format. A “curriculum collection” is a pre-selected group of e-books from different series on a particular topic; e.g., biographies, or which can be used for a specific purpose; e.g., International Baccalaureate programs.
  3. What is the difference between single use and unlimited use for an e-book?
    E-books may be purchased via shop.eb.com for access by a single user or for an unlimited number of users in one location, such as a school or library building. To provide access to Britannica’s e-books through multiple sites, get in touch with us at 1-800-621-3900 or contact@eb.com.
  4. Are Britannica’s e-books also available in print?
    Britannica's e-books are not available in print. Many titles in the E-Books and Print section, such as dictionaries, are available in print only. 
  5. What happens to the items I’ve put on the Wish List?
    As long as you are accessing the Wish List from the same computer, the items you add will remain there until you are ready to put them in your Shopping Cart and order them. The Wish List is a great place to save titles you are interested in and want to review in greater depth at another time or to ask a colleague to examine.

  1. How do I order Britannica e-books, online resources, or special collections from this site?
    We recommend that you use shop.eb.com to browse the library of e-books available from Britannica, then place your order through your preferred e-book platform provider.

    If you want to use Britannica's e-books on our E-STAX platform, simply add one or more products to your shopping cart by clicking the Add to Cart button. When you are done shopping, start the Checkout process by logging in. You may enter your purchase order number right after logging in or, if you’d prefer, type in a credit card number later in the checkout process. A Britannica representative will contact you within 24-48 hours after you submit your order to authenticate and enable access to the products you ordered, as well as to answer any questions you may have. If you have specific questions or would prefer to place your order with a Britannica Sales Representative, call us at 1-800-621-3900 or contact@eb.com.
  2. How do I calculate the cost of a subscription to an online resource where the pricing indicates a  minimum price?
    In the online resources section, shop.eb.com indicates the Minimum Order amount that will be charged for an annual subscription to each product. The Minimum Order amount equates to a specific number of users served. This is indicated at the bottom of the page for each online resource. If you expect to serve more than the number of users specified, get in touch with us at 1-800-621-3900 or contact@eb.com for a pricing proposal. 
  3. What methods of payment can I use for the items I’ve put in my shopping cart?
    You may use a personal or school/library credit card.
  4. I want to use a purchase order. Where do I enter the purchase order number?
    Purchase Orders should be emailed directly to salessupport@eb.com or faxed to 1.800.344.9624.
  5. How do I correct a mistake after I’ve submitted the order form?
    Simply contact us at salessupport@eb.com and we will help you modify your order.
  6. How soon after I place my order will I have access to the products?
    In most cases, access is available in 24-48 hours, unless there is a problem with the order. For orders placed on non-business days or during non-business hours, access will be available within 24-48 hours of the first business day following the order date.
